Daily practices supervised by full-time paid head coach and assistant coaches in an environment where students from multiple school districts practice together, from training plans tailored to each age group. Athletes are empowered with confidence and ambition gained through competition and hard work. High school and middle school students from the Greater Dayton area have the opportunity to be a part of our team with racing opportunities earned by their attendance, attitude, and achievement.
MONDAY - FRIDAY 4pm - 6:30pm SATURDAY 10am - 12:30pm
Our junior program is for any student in grades 8 - 12 (Exceptions for inclusion of 6th and 7th grade athletes will be made by the coaching staff on an individual basis). It offers more scheduling flexibility for athletes and their families by offering training 3 - 6 days per week. The family of the athlete will adhere to the fixed schedule they submit at the beginning of each season. All athletes have the same racing opportunities.
VARSITY LETTER We are currently in the process of formalizing requirements for achieving a varsity letter in rowing though all school districts in the Greater Dayton area. Our 6 day per week program is for any high school student who is able to make a High School Varsity level commitment. All practices and regattas are mandatory. Just as Advanced Placement courses are preparation for collegiate success, so to is this program in preparing the high school student-athlete for admission and scholarship opportunities in NCAA Division I, II, and III rowing programs.
Cost includes club membership, coaching staff guidance through the training plan, equipment and facility usage, regatta registration and entry fees, and food, provided by the Boosters, at regattas.
Travel accommodations and lodging costs (where applicable) are handled separately by our Boosters.
I want to row but the cost is a challenge...
We strive to make rowing accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. If you are in need of financial assistance please contact Bill Irvine at bill@aphilosopher.com to receive an application for a partial aid. The term for financial aid is one season only and is on a first-come first-serve basis. Application for financial aid must be submitted each season by the Monday of the second week of the season for an athlete to receive financial aid support.
