GDRA crew boosters are the backbone of rower support in this sport. The Junior Crew Staff really appreciates your volunteer efforts toward providing food and beverage needs during regattas, for providing the rowers with team parties, for your fundraising efforts and especially for organizing the annual spring awards banquet.
Each fall, the GDRA rowing club hosts a regatta. It is the only one during the year. The Crew Boosters run the regatta concession stand (tent) to help boost the regatta profits and thereby adding to the Junior Rowing funds.
The Greater Dayton Rowing Association (GDRA) gives rowing lessons for adults aged 18 and up. Sign up for a spring or summer session today and start enjoying the beautiful Great Miami River just north of downtown Dayton.
Enrollment is limited and classes fill fast. Adults who graduate from Learn-to-Row are eligible to join the GDRA and participate in a variety of competitive and recreational activities.
Note: Reduced fee is available for young adults age 18-24

Practice is usually two hours long.
Practice starts finishes with warm-up on land.
We usually spend 60 to 90 minutes on the water.
We will have indoor workouts during inclement weather
(thunderstorms, freezing).
You will get blisters on your hands when you start.
Always bring a plastic water bottle, running shoes, adequate clothing for the weather. T-shirt and non-baggy shorts for the summer.
Typical Regatta Weekend
For races less than two hours away (Cincinnati, Columbus), we usually travel the morning of the competition. For races farther away, we will go the night before.
In the fall you will race 5,000 meters. In the spring you will race 2,000 meters and usually have one heat in the morning and a final in the afternoon for each event.
Regattas usually end around 4 p.m. and we usually travel back that night.
There is a lot of dead time between races at regattas. Make sure you bring homework and study materials (during the school year). We have weather shelter tent and food tent. Bring blanket or sleeping bag for warmth when necessary and dry clothes for the trip home.
